Our History

In 2006, Dalia Gottlieb-Tanaka, PhD and Hilary Lee, MSc merged their efforts to advocate and support people living with dementia by chairing the Society for the Arts in Dementia Care in Canada and in Australia. Dalia and Hilary have worked together on several projects, which includes their development of the Creative Expressive Abilities Assessment (CEAA) tool along with Peter Graf, PhD. Today, Dalia and Hilary continue to chair the Society in Vancouver, Canada and in Perth Australia, with the help of their devoted Board Members. Over the years, scientific research has reinforced a new understanding that being engaged in meaningful and holistic activities benefits older adults of healthy cognition as well as to people living with dementia. This website encourages creative expression activities for both groups.
