Bio
Hilary Lee
is a senior occupational therapist and dementia consultant who
qualified in Oxford, England. Hilary has certificate IV in clinical
aromatherapy, post graduate studies in health research methods and is
completing a Masters Degree in Science. Hilary is an advanced dementia
care mapper, and has been implementing the person-centred approach
with special projects such as the development of a wellbeing care
plan, and a multidisciplinary approach to palliative care.
Hilary has presented her projects and research both nationally and
internationally. In 2005 she presented a project on the early
identification and prevention of depression in dementia at the
Challenging Depression in the Elderly conference, Sydney. In July 2006
she presented early findings from her masters research on the Spark of
Life program at the World Federation of Occupational Therapists’
Congress, Sydney.
Hilary specialises in designing experiences for people with dementia
to express themselves creatively. She worked with film makers in Perth
on a documentary about an intergenerational tapestry project and
presented this at the Creative Expression and Communication in
Dementia Conference in Vancouver in May 2006. This connection with the
Society for the Arts in Dementia in Vancouver inspired Hilary to
introduce a new chapter of the society to Australia.
